Sir John Whittingdale MP has had two meetings in the past week with Tom Abell, newly appointed Chief Executive of Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, to discuss the consultation on proposed changes to services provided at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon.
The first meeting on 6th September was at St Peter’s with representatives of the Save Maldon Medical Services Group and the second on 10th September was with Dame Priti Patel, MP for Witham. Both were also attended by Dan Doherty, Alliance Director of NHS Mid Essex.
Sir John said: “I very much welcome Tom Abell’s willingness to listen to the concerns of local residents in Maldon directly, following the overwhelming opposition to the ICB’s proposals which was demonstrated in the response to the public consultation. I am greatly encouraged that he is approaching this with an open mind and shares our determination to ensure that the best outcome is found for future healthcare provision in the Maldon District and beyond. I look forward to continuing to work with him and others to achieve this. “
