I have been recently contacted by constituents who are understandably eager to receive the Covid vaccine. As of writing this newsletter, there are 15 live sites across the Mid and South Essex area proving the vaccine to front line heathcare staff, care home staff and residents, and constituents aged over 80. Due to the complexities caused by the logistics and scale of the rollout, however, it is not a blanket roll out and I am aware that there are some eligible constituents who have yet to receive their first jab.
I have been in close contact with both the NHS and Essex County Council and receive regular updates as to the progress of the vaccination rollout locally. I would like to reassure those who have yet to be contacted that they will receive their vaccine as soon as possible and that everything is being done by the organisations involved in this incredible effort to get everyone vaccinated as quickly as possible.
I am very proud that the UK has been at the forefront of both the vaccination development and roll out. So far, over 2 million vaccinations have been carried out across the United Kingdom, with the Prime Minister recently confirming that the programme – the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history – is to be rapidly accelerated so that the capacity will exist to deliver hundreds of thousands of vaccines per day by 15 January.
