Today, on Armed Forces Day, Sir John shares a message recognising the importance of the Armed Forces community and the strong links between service personnel, veterans and families across Maldon.
Sir John said:
“Today marks Armed Forces Day, which offers an important moment for us to recognise the courage, professionalism and sacrifice of the men and women who serve our country.
I am aware that across Maldon, many families have close ties to the Armed Forces. Their commitment, and indeed the commitment of all those who serve, deserves our enduring respect.
I wish to reaffirm my support and thanks to those currently serving and those who have served before them.”
Help For Heroes Reception
Sir John also recently attended the Help for Heroes Armed Forces Week Reception in Parliament, where he met representatives from the organisation and discussed support for veterans and their families.
During the event, Sir John heard about Help for Heroes’ new plan of action aimed at improving support for those who have served and their families.
Sir John highlighted his support for the principle behind the Armed Forces Covenant, which seeks to ensure that those who have served in the Armed Forces are not disadvantaged because of their service.
The reception provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing work to support veterans and recognise the contribution of the Armed Forces community.
