Rt Hon Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP

Member of Parliament for Maldon

Extra funding for schools

Sir John Whittingdale MP strongly welcomes the Government’s recent announcement that schools in England are being allocated £60bn of funding, in 2024-2025, taking funding to its highest ever level in history. Mainstream schools will now receive an average of around £6,000 per pupil, ensuring that every child will benefit from a world class education.

This extra funding can be used for staff salaries, school running costs, educational trips and classroom equipment.

Sir John said:

“I am very pleased that schools in my constituency will benefit from the increase in education funding announced by the Government. I am proud of the excellent schools in our constituency, and I know that increasing costs have made things difficult this academic year. I am sur that this extra money will make a real difference in helping teachers in their jobs, and giving students the quality education they deserve.”
