John Whittingdale met the President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Vsevelod Kniaziev, and three other Ukrainian Supreme Court Judges in Westminster to discuss the operation of justice during the war in Ukraine, as well as the efforts to hold those guilty of War Crimes to account.
John who is also Special Rapporteur on War Crimes for the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, said:
“I am hugely impressed by the bravery of the Judges from Ukraine who remain determined to ensure that justice is dispensed even while the war is ongoing. As well as prosecuting those responsible for atrocities in Ukraine, we also need to ensure that Russia is made to pay for its aggression and to fund the reconstruction of Ukraine after the War is over”.
