Highways England will begin a public consultation on the potential widening of the A12 from Chelmsford to A120 outside Colchester, which will improve journeys between Junction 19 (Boreham interchange) and Junction 25 (Marks Tey interchange).<\/span><\/p>\n

Whilst the A12 does not pass through the Maldon constituency, it is important route for many constituents, who use the road to travel to and from the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

The proposed changes to this stretch of the A12 road will improve the safety of road users; reduce congestion by increasing the capacity of the road; take long-distance traffic off local roads and put it back onto the A12; ensure that the road can cope with the predicted increase in traffic from more jobs and homes in the area; and make improvements for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and public transport users.  <\/span>

\nThe statutory public consultation will run from Tuesday 22 June 2021 until Monday 16 August 2021 and Mr Whittingdale strongly encourage anyone who is interested in the proposed scheme to take part.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will also be live online events where technical experts will talk through the proposals and answer any questions. Highways England will host the webinars on the following dates:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
