It enables elected representatives from different countries to exchange ideas, scrutinise international challenges and develop recommendations on issues including European security, democracy, human rights, the rule of law, conflict prevention and economic cooperation.<\/p><p>Each year, parliamentarians meet at the Annual Session to debate key international issues, adopt resolutions and elect members to the Bureau, which helps guide the Assembly&#8217;s work between sessions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a91674b e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"a91674b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba3319a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ba3319a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What Does Sir John's Election Mean?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5f86bd e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"d5f86bd\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-583c568 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"583c568\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As one of the Assembly&#8217;s Vice-Presidents, Sir John will serve a three-year term as part of the Bureau, helping to shape the strategic direction and work of the Parliamentary Assembly.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Bureau works alongside the President and other elected officers to oversee the Assembly&#8217;s activities, support international parliamentary dialogue and help coordinate its programme of work. While the Assembly does not make laws, it contributes to international policy discussions with its debates, reports and resolutions.
