When my right hon. Friend was&nbsp;<a class=\"glossary\" style=\"box-sizing: border-box; background-color: transparent; color: #4faded; line-height: inherit; overflow-wrap: break-word; word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-hyphens: auto;\" title=\"Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who...\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theyworkforyou.com\/glossary\/?gl=23\">Secretary of State<\/a>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box; background-color: transparent; color: #4faded; line-height: inherit; overflow-wrap: break-word; word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-hyphens: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Department_for_Culture,_Media_and_Sport\" rel=\"nofollow\">Department for Culture, Media and Sport<\/a>, he was instrumental in making sure, at the&nbsp;<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box; background-color: transparent; color: #4faded; line-height: inherit; overflow-wrap: break-word; word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-hyphens: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC\" rel=\"nofollow\">BBC<\/a>\u2019s charter renewal, that the local democracy reporting scheme provided \u00a38 million a year to get local reporters into the courts.
