Friend share my concern about the decline of local newspapers and the consequences for local democracy? Will she welcome the launch by the BBC of the local news partnership, which will support the employment of local democracy reporters? Friend deserves great credit for the work that he did on the BBC charter, which included this local news initiative now being<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><span id=\"565\" class=\"column-number\" style=\"box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block;\" data-column-number=\"565\">\u200b<\/span>carried out by the BBC. The idea that we might lose our local newspaper\u2014the voice for local people\u2014is of great concern to all Members of this House.
