I have arranged a further meeting with the Chief Executive of the ICB and the new Chief Executive of the Mid and South Essex Hospitals Trust to agree a clear action plan.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <figure class=\"jw-figure\">\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/thumbnail_SMMS-Meeting-1-17-October-2025-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Meeting with Save Maldon Medical Services group\">\n    <\/figure>\n\n    <div class=\"jw-top\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to top<\/a><\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <!-- SECTION: REMEMBRANCE -->\n  <div class=\"jw-section\" id=\"remembrance\">\n    <div class=\"jw-h2-wrap\">\n      <div class=\"jw-h2\">Remembrance 2025 \u2014 Garden of Remembrance, New Palace Yard<\/div>\n      <div class=\"jw-section-flash\"><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <p>\n      This week I was proud to pay tribute to those from the Maldon constituency who gave their lives in service of our country at Parliament\u2019s Constituency Garden of Remembrance in New Palace Yard.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      This year marks the 80th anniversaries of Victory in Europe and Victory over Japan \u2014 a moment to remember not only the relief that followed the end of the Second World War, but also the immense cost of conflict.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      I am also looking forward to attending the Remembrance Services this Sunday in Maldon and at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <figure class=\"jw-figure\">\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-05-at-15.38.03-781x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"Constituency Garden of Remembrance in New Palace Yard\">\n    <\/figure>\n\n    <div class=\"jw-top\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to top<\/a><\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <!-- SECTION: POLICE & FIRE -->\n  <div class=\"jw-section\" id=\"policefire\">\n    <div class=\"jw-h2-wrap\">\n      <div class=\"jw-h2\">Meeting with the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Fire Officer<\/div>\n      <div class=\"jw-section-flash\"><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <p>\n      Ahead of the Budget, I attended a joint briefing with the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Fire Officer to hear urgent financial forecasts for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      Essex County Fire and Rescue face a possible 13.7% grant reduction (around \u00a35.1 million) alongside a projected \u00a34.9 million deficit over the next three years. Steeple Road has been closed for essential water-main renewal by Essex &amp; Suffolk Water.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      I have received confirmation that the works at Steeple Road have now been completed and the road will reopen this evening. Remedial work is also underway to restore damaged grass and trees, with residents receiving a full breakdown of planned improvements and regular updates.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      Handley Gardens is now home to over 600 families. I remain convinced that this does not serve Britain\u2019s strategic, economic or environmental interests.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      Diego Garcia is home to a vital military base.
