{"id":2737,"date":"2022-11-17T15:40:32","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T15:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/?p=2737"},"modified":"2022-11-17T15:42:45","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T15:42:45","slug":"autumn-statement-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/?p=2737","title":{"rendered":"Autumn Statement 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the Autumn Statement today, The Chancellor laid out the economic and fiscal plan to address the key challenges our country is facing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government taken strong and decisive action, and has made the difficult decisions necessary to guide our country and economy through the global challenges we are facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some key announcements include: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More money for the NHS, Schools and Social Care, an increase of \u00a311bn in funding over the next 2 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Benefits increasing in line with inflation, by 10.1%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pension triple lock confirmed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy Price Guarantee extended from April 2023 to April 2024.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a312bn extra to support most vulnerable, including \u00a3900 for households on means tested benefits, \u00a3300 for pensioners, and \u00a3150 for those with disabilities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing National Living wage by 9% to \u00a310.42, raising annual incomes for lower earners by \u00a31,600.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Housing rent increases frozen below inflation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>These increases in public spending will be funded through:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An increase in the energy levy on oil and gas companies, from 25% to 35% and a new levy placed on electricity generators.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing the threshold for the 45p tax rate from \u00a3150,000 to \u00a3125,140.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Freezing the tax-free allowance for income tax&nbsp;for the next two years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cutting the thresholds for capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and dividend tax.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2739\" width=\"578\" height=\"578\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the Autumn Statement today, The Chancellor laid out the economic and fiscal plan to address the key challenges our country is facing.
