Friend to my previous reply of 8 November 2010,\u00a0<em>Official Report,<\/em>\u00a0column 118W.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 12px !important; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px\"><a name=\"stpa_550\"><\/a><a name=\"101220w0006.htm_para69\"><\/a><a name=\"10122114001168\"><\/a>The following information on costs is available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 12px !important; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px\"><a name=\"stpa_551\"><\/a><a name=\"101220w0006.htm_para70\"><\/a><a name=\"10122114001169\"><\/a>The cost to the Home Office of counsel employed on the Ganic case was \u00a31,597.24.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 12px !important; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px\"><a name=\"stpa_552\"><\/a><a name=\"101220w0006.htm_para71\"><\/a><a name=\"10122114001170\"><\/a>I understand from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) that the total cost of administration and in-house advocates relating to the case was \u00a334,511. The cost to the CPS of counsel employed on the case was \u00a376,400.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 12px !important; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px\"><a name=\"stpa_553\"><\/a><a name=\"101220w0006.htm_para72\"><\/a><a name=\"10122114001171\"><\/a>I understand from HM Courts Service that the cost of the hearings involving Dr Ganic at city of Westminster magistrates court is estimated at \u00a37,630. This is based on the estimated national average daily marginal costs for a district judge sitting in the magistrates court. The cost of the hearings at the High Court are estimated at \u00a32,340, again based on average costs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 12px !important; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px\"><a name=\"stpa_554\"><\/a><a name=\"101220w0006.htm_para73\"><\/a><a name=\"10122114001172\"><\/a>Dr Ganic did not receive legal aid; a defence costs order has been made to reimburse his legal costs from central funds.
