{"id":2326,"date":"2022-01-21T15:41:17","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T15:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/?p=2326"},"modified":"2026-03-20T11:59:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T11:59:49","slug":"transport-and-road-issues-in-maldon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/?p=2326","title":{"rendered":"Transport and road issues in Maldon."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Friday 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0January, John Whittingdale was delighted to welcome\u00a0 Cllr Lee Scott, the Essex County Council\u00a0Cabinet\u00a0Member for Highways,\u00a0to look at a number of traffic related issues in Maldon and South Woodham Ferrers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor Construction Plant Ltd<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit began at TCP in Quayside Industrial Park in Maldon where Cllr Scott was shown the company\u2019s innovative Hydrogen-fuelled eco-lites. Developed by TCP and exhibited at COP 26, the lighting is used at a wide range of construction projects and events with zero noise and zero emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcp-eco.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Innovative lighting, compaction &amp; recycling | TCP Eco (tcp-eco.co.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lower Fambridge Road<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John and Cllr Scott were joined by Cllr Jane Fleming to see the work carried out the day before his visit to repair the potholes on the Lower Fambridge Road.&nbsp;This road is the main link between Maldon and Burnham and South Woodham Ferrers and John has received a number of complaints about its condition. It has now been&nbsp;repaired and that the road surface is in very good&nbsp;condition.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/john-visit-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2327\" width=\"621\" height=\"828\"\/><figcaption>Mr Whittingdale is pictured with Cllr Jane Fleming and Cllr Lee Scott, outside the Plume School entrance on Mill Road. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Entrance to Plume Academy Mill Road Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John and Cllr Fleming took Cllr Lee Scott to Mill Road, Maldon, to look at the exit from the Lower Campus of the Plume Academy which is largely concealed.&nbsp;This causes particular problems during the peak times of school opening and closing. Several&nbsp;options were discussed, and it was agreed that immediate priority would be given to improving signage&nbsp;to warn road users that this&nbsp;is&nbsp;a school exit where there will be school children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/John-visit-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2328\" width=\"678\" height=\"904\"\/><figcaption>Mr Whittingdale is pictured with Cllr Lee Scott and Cocks Clarks residents. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hackmans Lane, Cock Clarks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John and Cllrs Scott and Fleming met local residents, Simon Hammond and Elaine Rutherford to discuss the problems caused by speeding cars on Hackman\u2019s Lane at the entry to the village. It was agreed that better signage was needed and that there should be more enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnwhittingdale.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/John-visit-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2329\" width=\"689\" height=\"919\"\/><figcaption>John is pictured with Cllr Bob Massey and Cllr Lee Scott.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>South Woodham Ferrers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John took Cllr Lee Scott to meet Cllr Bob Massey to discuss highways issues in South Woodham Ferrers. In particular, they looked at the B1012 Burnham Road and A132. This road is the main route from the Dengie Peninsula and South Woodham to the A130 and is already very busy at peak times. There is widely expressed concern from local residents at the impact on the road which will result if the proposed development of up to 1500 homes to the north of the road around Sainsburys goes ahead.
